MARY SMART CONCERTO COMPETITION

Summit Music Festival’s annual CONCERTO COMPETITION offers students a special challenge and an opportunity for public recognition. The competition is open to all registered students in the two-week programs and who fully participate in the festival. There are two divisions: Senior Division (age 16-35) or Junior Division (under age 16)

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Senior Division (Age 16 to 35)*

Contenders are required to play a concerto of their choice. The competition consists of two rounds – 1) playing the first movement, and 2) playing the entire concerto. All selections must be memorized. * must not be represented by management agency

Junior Division (Under Age 16)

Contenders must be under age 16 and notify the faculty by August 3 that they will compete in the junior division. The student is required to play a movement from a concerto of his or her choice. All selections must be memorized.

 

PRIZES:

Senior Division (Ages 16 to 35)

1st Prize:

  • Full Tuition Scholarship towards a two-week program for the following year (2019)
  • $600 cash award
  • Solo Concerto Performance with the Festival Orchestra in 2019 Concert Series
  • Announced on SMF Website and in the final program of the 2019 Festival

2nd Prize:

  • Full Tuition Scholarship towards a two-week program for the following year (2019)
  • $250 cash award
  • Solo Recitalin the Summit Music Festival’s 2019 Concert Series
  • Announced on SMF Website and in the final program of the 2019 Festival

3rd Prize:

  • 50% Tuition Scholarship towards a two-week program for the following year (2019)
  • $150 cash award
  • Announced on SMF Website and in the final program of the 2019 Festival

 

Junior Division (Under Age 16)

1st Prize:

  • Full Tuition Scholarship towards a two-week program for the following year (2019)
  • $300 cash award
  • Solo Performance with the Festival Orchestra in 2019 Concert Series
  • Announced on SMF Website and in the final program of the 2019 Festival

2nd Prize:

  • 50% Tuition Scholarship towards a two-week program for the following year (2019)
  • $150 cash award
  • Announced on SMF Website and in the final program of the 2019 Festival

3rd Prize:

  • $500 Tuition Scholarship towards a two-week program for the following year (2019)
  • $75 cash award
  • Announced on SMF Website and in the final program of the 2019 Festival
