Calling all high school and college students with a passion for classical music and a drive to lead! Are you ready to go beyond the stage and experience what it takes to run a world-class music festival? The Summit Music Festival Leadership Internship Program offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in arts administration while developing valuable leadership skills.

As an intern, you’ll work closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, Program Director, Manager, Coordinator of Recruitment and Students Supervision and core Festival Staff to support every facet of our dynamic 14-day festival. From concert production to patron services, this immersive program is designed to develop your confidence, professionalism, and ability to lead in fast-paced creative environments.

Program Overview

This is not your average internship. Interns will:

  • Shadow top arts administrators and help manage daily festival operations

  • Support private lessons, chamber music, rehearsals, and recitals
  • Interact with renowned musicians, students, and concertgoers
  • Take initiative on key projects that match your strengths and interests

We encourage applications from motivated high school students (ages 14+) and college students across the U.S. who are excited to contribute, learn, and grow.

Ideal Candidates Are:

 

  • High school juniors/seniors or college students with a strong interest in music, events, or arts leadership

  • Proactive problem-solvers who work well in teams and independently
  • Friendly, dependable, and eager to take initiative
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments and communicating with the public

(Bonus) Experience with classical music or performing arts programs

Internship Details

 

  • Dates: August 5–19, 2025

  • Location: University of Mount Saint Vincent, Riverdale, NY
  • Stipend: $200 upon successful completion
  • Hours: Flexible scheduling with shifts across mornings, afternoons, and evenings

Intern Responsibilities

 

Festival Support:

  • Serve as a friendly face for guests and patrons
  • Assist with concert logistics (e.g. piano moves, tech setup, stage changes)
  • Help with scheduling, artist check-ins, box office, and front desk
  • Collaborate on social media, marketing, and festival outreach

Leadership Development:

  • Attend production meetings with senior staff
  • Lead or co-lead special assignments
  • Develop time-management, communication, and event-planning skills

  • Youth Engagement & Mentorship Intern (Music Festival): This emphasizes building rapport and guiding young participants, which includes a counseling component.
  • Junior Counselor (Music Education): For an intern with less experience, this title would focus on direct interaction and support under supervision.
