Pianist Olga Roumchevitch was born in St. Petersburg into the family of famed conductor, Dimitry Roumchevitch, director of Mikhailovsky Opera House. Her mother, her first piano teacher, was herself a respected pianist, who studied under the famous Felix Blumenfeld, teacher of Vladimir Horowitz. In 1969 under the tutelage of professor Nadezhda Golubovskaya she obtained her masters Diploma from the St Petersburg Conservatory.
During her study years she performed as a soloist with the prestigious St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, playing the concertos of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Saint Saens, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
Upon competition of her studies, Ms Roumchevitch taught at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow as Professor and Concert Maestro for 23 years. During this time she also continued performing as both, a soloist as well as in chamber ensemble.
Olga is a winner of several international competitions. Chamber music has played a special role in Olga’s performance career. She has participated in several International chamber music festivals in the United Kingdom, France, Czechoslovakia, St Petersburg, Moscow, Austria, Lithuania and Brussels.
Olga has performed extensively as accompanist and chamber music player to the celebrated violinist Gidon Kremer. On many international tours. She also appeared on numerous occasions on his festival in Lockenhaus, Austria. She as well recorded with the BBC Singers a Brahms program in London that came out on BBC Label. She also performed under maestro Valery Gergiev at the White Nights Festival in St Petersburg, London, Brescia and Bergamo, Moscow and Paris.
In 1997 she was a pianist for the Maestro Yehudi Menuhin at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
Olga Roumchevich regularly accompanies her husband the renowned pianist Yevgeny Mogilevsky and 2 sons, Maxim and Alexander, both celebrated pianists, for 4-hand and duo piano music performances around the world.
Ms Roumchevitch is regularly invited as a jury member on the panel of several International Competitions.
Since 1992, she is a faculty member at Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels. Her unique teaching style, drawn from her Conductor father and celebrated piano teachers, is sought after by many young pianists at her seminars.
Olga is a faculty member at the festivals and summer academies in Southern France (Les Orres), Italy (Atri), Belgium (Floreffe) and others. Olga is Artistic Director of Bahrain Conservatory of Music in Manama, Bahrain.
Her students are prizewinners of many international Piano Competitions, such as Queen Elisabeth Competition, Munich ARD Competition, and Liszt Competition in Holland and Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow.
